Summer Shoe-in

One of the best ways to update your wardrobe each season is with a great new pair of shoes.

We asked local shoe expert Lori Oppenheim, of Shirise Women’s Shoes and Accessories in Glencoe, to help Make It Better spotlight this summer’s hottest kicks:

This trend has taken summer by storm and is sure to be a favorite with women who like height, but not the pitch of traditional high heel shoes. On the wedge
Another shoe that makes a come back when the temperatures start to rise is the wedge. As an espadrille, clog, slide, or sandal, the wedge heel gives your shoe a little something extra. Shoe-booties
Shoe or bootie? Lucky for you this season, you don’t have to decide. These all-in-one shoe-booties are right off the runway and can instantly take a simple sheath, pencil skirt, or a great pair of cargo pants to a whole new level. Not just for the ballet
If heels are not your thing, the classic ballet flat will always be in style. But instead of a bright color or the iconic black, opt for summer’s newest neutral—gray.
